let me introduce you to Rosie’s Firestarter Socks. You can find out a bit more about Rosie at her homesite (http://GroundedSeries.com/updates), but for now lets just say she has… unique challenges.
However, one of those challenges is *not* knitting. She’s a better than average 17-year-old knitter and she deserves a pair of socks (though in the book she's knitting a pair of faux-fair isle mitts and a shawl.
But socks were needed for all of the main characters in the book (else how can we get sock puppet theater going, right?)
Rosie’s socks are easy-to knit because there’s only little panel of something other than stockinette and that runs down the outside of the sock (so there’ s a right and a left sock).
But because Rosie hates to be bored there’s also a Welsh heel (like the WWMDfK? Fosco socks) and a fitted arch.
These suckers FIT.
They hug your foot nicely and the leg bit is easily extendable for you to make it as long as you need.
Want to add calf shaping if you decide to go long? It’s easy to do because the back of the leg is pure stockinette. (Andi’s book Big Foot Knits would help with planning for that).
And the yarn!
The yarn comes from Riin Gill of Happy Fuzzy Yarn--you can get kits of pattern and yarn from her.
